On Saturday 16th June 2018 Athlone Castle will celebrate Bloomsday by having an exciting literary recital starting at 2pm with several of Athlone’s well known writers, who will read passages from some of James Joyce’s famous novels.
The world wide festival celebrates June 16th 1904, the day depicted in Irish novelist and poet, James Joyce’s novel Ulysses. The day is named after Leopold Bloom, the central character in Ulysses.
Come along and join us in the forecourt, and you might even fancy wearing something simple like a straw boater hat or black bowler, or anything with pinstripes, ruffles and petticoats….and the famous black round-rimmed spectacles.
This is a free event taking place in the castle courtyard and all are welcome to attend. For more information contact Athlone Castle on 090 6442130.
