Documenting Athlone Castle’s Collection: Free Workshop for Children Aged 7 – 12
Athlone Castle invites children to take part in a free hands-on museum workshop.
Children will get a chance to roll up their sleeves, put on gloves and become a museum detective as they examine, measure, photograph, and record objects from Athlone Castle’s Handling Collection.
During this workshop, children will discover what happens behind the scenes in a museum and learn what makes an ordinary object special. Through fun, interactive activities, children will learn the importance of protecting and preserving our heritage and how museums look after special artefacts and help preserve stories from the past. The workshops offer a unique chance to become a museum detective for the day and help uncover the stories behind historic objects.
