In preparation for the annual ‘Storm the Castle’ Open Day, Athlone Castle invites the young knights and warrior princesses of the Athlone area to join Abbey Road Studios’ Resident artist Aoife Doolan in a very special arts and crafts workshop. Participating children will get to express their creative sides by designing and decorating their own suits of armour, which they can wear for Storm the Castle and be part of the medieval magic of the day.
The workshop will take place Friday 8th of August in the upstairs Community Space at Abbey Road Artist Studios, Abbey Road, Athlone.
This workshop is free of charge, but booking is essential as places are limited.
This Workshop is part of Athlone Castle’s Heritage Week Programme and is supported by the Heritage Council under the Irish Walled Towns Network 2025 Interpretation Fund.
